How to find apps you never use on Android
To find unused apps on Android, check Android's Unused apps list, or look at screen time per app to spot the ones you almost never open. Then uninstall them or let Android archive them.
Short answer
Before you start
- Applore needs usage access to read screen time. Android keeps this information behind that permission. Learn more about usage access.
- Think about apps you use rarely but still need, such as travel, banking or emergency apps. “Rarely used” does not always mean “not needed”.
- Menus vary by phone maker and Android version.
Without Applore
Android’s Unused apps list
When you have not used an app for a long time, Android can delete its temporary files, remove its permissions and stop it running in the background. Open Settings › Apps › Unused apps to review those apps.1 To keep an app out of this, open its App info and turn off Pause app activity if unused.1
Archive apps you rarely use
Android and Google Play can archive apps you do not use often. An archived app is removed, but your data is kept and its icon stays, so you can download it again when you need it.2
Google Play Store
Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Manage apps & device › Manage. Review the list of apps and remove the ones you do not need.3
Digital Wellbeing
On many phones, Settings › Digital Wellbeing & parental controls shows screen time per app. Apps that never appear there are good candidates to review.
Steps with Applore
- Open Applore and tap the Activity tab at the bottom.
- If the screen is blurred, tap the button to allow usage access, turn it on for Applore in Android’s settings, and come back.
- On the Apps stats, choose Weekly for a better picture than a single day.
- Look at the pie chart, the Screen Time / App Launches chart and the app list. Apps with almost no screen time and few launches are the ones you rarely use.
- Tap an app to see its screen time, notifications and launches in more detail.
- When you have a list, open Storage Tools › Uninstall App on the Home tab, tick those apps and confirm.

Common problems
The Activity tab is blurred
Applore does not have usage access yet. Allow it in Settings › Apps › Special app access › Usage access. On Xiaomi phones, Applore may also ask for an extra permission.
Usage data looks empty or too short
Android keeps detailed app activity for a limited time, and the view fills in as you use your phone. Check the weekly view again after a week of normal use.
An app I rarely open still shows notifications
Apps can run in the background and send notifications without being opened. The app detail screen shows notifications separately from launches.
What stays private
Usage information stays on your phone. Applore does not send your screen time or your list of apps to analytics or advertisers. Uninstalling happens through Android’s own dialog. For the app tools, see the app manager in Applore.
Questions
Why is usage data empty at first?
Applore can show screen time only after you allow usage access, because Android keeps app usage information behind that permission. Android also keeps detailed app activity for a limited time, so the weekly view may look thin at first. Use your phone as usual for a week, then check the weekly view again.
Does Applore remove unused apps automatically?
No. Applore shows your screen time and app launches so you can decide, and nothing is removed until you choose apps and confirm in Android's uninstall dialog. If you want apps handled automatically, Android and Google Play can archive apps you rarely use, keeping your data so you can download them again later.
