Duplicate file finder: remove exact copies

A duplicate file finder for Android that looks for exact copies. Applore compares file contents, groups identical files and selects the extra copies for you to review. Applore Free removes one duplicate group a day; Applore Pro has no limit.

What it does

Duplicate Files finds exact copies of files on your phone’s storage and helps you remove the extra ones.

  • Finds exact duplicates by comparing file contents, not names. A photo saved twice under different names is still found.
  • Groups identical files together, so you can see every copy of the same file.
  • Selects all but one copy in each group. The first file stays unselected.
  • Shows how much space you will get back before you remove anything.

Duplicates often come from the same photo saved by several apps, files downloaded twice, or old backups copied back to the phone.

How it works

  1. Open Applore and tap Duplicate Files in the Storage Tools section of the Home screen.
  2. Allow All files access when Applore asks. Android shows this in its own settings screen.
  3. Wait while Applore compares your files. Large storage takes longer.
  4. Open a group and review the selection. Change which copy you keep if you prefer another one.
  5. Tap remove to delete the selected copies.

Free up space and Large File Analyzer

Two more tools help when your storage is full.

  • Free up space opens Android’s own storage settings. There you can see what takes space and clear an app’s cache in the way Android allows. Applore does not clean anything itself.
  • Large File Analyzer (Pro) shows the folders on your phone by size, largest first, so you can see where the space goes. You find it in the Files tab.

Large File Analyzer (Pro)

Large File Analyzer lists folders from largest to smallest. Open a folder to see what is inside, then decide what to move or delete in the file manager. It is part of Applore Pro.

What stays on your phone

Duplicate Files runs on your phone. Applore reads your files on the device to compare them, and the results stay there. Your files are not uploaded to Applore. The privacy policy summarises what Applore collects.

Good to know

  • Exact duplicates only. Similar photos, edited copies and resized images are not grouped.
  • Deletion is permanent. Review each group, and back up important files first.
  • Some copies are there on purpose. An app may keep its own copy of a file it needs. If you are not sure what a file is, leave it.
  • Applore is not a phone cleaner. It does not clear junk, cache or memory, and it does not claim to make your phone faster.

Questions

Does Applore find similar photos or only exact duplicates?

Only exact duplicates. Applore compares the contents of files, so two files match only when they are identical, even if their names differ. Photos that look alike, such as burst shots or an edited copy, are different files and are not grouped. Review similar photos yourself in your gallery app.

How many duplicates can I remove in Applore Free?

Applore Free lets you remove one duplicate group per day. A group is a set of identical files, such as three copies of the same video. Finding and viewing duplicates has no limit. Applore Pro removes the daily limit, so you can clear every group in one session. Compare Free and Pro.

Can I undo a deletion?

No. When you tap remove, Applore deletes the selected copies straight away, without a second confirmation, and they do not go to a recycle bin. Check which files are selected before you tap. If a file matters to you, back it up first, for example to your computer or your own cloud storage.

Does Applore clean junk or cache?

No. Applore does not have a junk or cache cleaner. On current Android versions, apps cannot clear other apps' caches. Free up space opens Android's own storage settings, where you can see what uses space and clear an app's cache the way Android intends. How to free up storage on Android.
