File manager: browse, organise and search your files

What it does
The Files tab in Applore is a full file manager for Android.
- File Explorer: browse internal storage and your SD card. Copy, move, rename, delete and share files, and select several at once.
- Phone Storage: see used and free space for internal storage and the SD card.
- Organised Files: your files sorted by type: images, audio, videos, documents, downloads, compressed files, screenshots, installers (APK files) and GIFs.
- Recent Files: files grouped by when they arrived, from the last 12 hours to last year.
- Media players: play videos and audio inside Applore.
- Zip tools: extract zip files and compress files into a new zip.
- Media saved by messaging apps: when those folders exist on your phone, see the media by category with size totals.
File Finder (Pro search)
File Finder searches your storage with filters:
- a keyword in the file name;
- the file type, such as images or documents;
- a size range;
- a date range.
The File Finder screen opens for everyone. The search button is part of Applore Pro.
How it works
- Open Applore and tap the Files tab.
- Allow All files access when Applore asks. Android shows this in its own settings screen.
- Tap a category in Organised Files, a time group in Recent Files, or File Explorer to browse folders.
- Long-press a file to select it, then choose copy, move, rename, delete or share.
- To extract a zip, open it and choose a folder. To create one, select files and compress them.
You can also use Applore’s tools from other apps. Share several files and choose Compress and Share, or open a zip file with Extract.
Why All files access? A file manager has to reach every folder in shared storage. Android’s file picker would ask you to grant each folder one at a time. The permissions page and the glossary entry on All files access explain more.
What stays on your phone
The file manager works on your phone. Applore reads, moves and deletes files on the device and does not upload them. A file leaves your phone only when you share it with another app yourself. The privacy policy summarises what Applore does collect, such as crash reports.

In Applore Free, file screens can show banner ads, and some actions in search results show an ad first. Compare Free and Pro.
Large File Analyzer (Pro) shows which folders take the most space, largest first. It sits in the Files tab and is described with the duplicate file finder.
Good to know
- Not a root explorer. Applore works with shared storage, the part of the phone Android lets file managers use. It cannot open system folders or other apps’ private data.
- No cloud drives inside the explorer. The file manager shows files on your phone and SD card only.
- Deleting is permanent. Deleted files do not go to a recycle bin, so check before you delete.
- Messaging app cards appear only when needed. If those folders are not on your phone, the cards do not show.

Questions
Why does the file manager need All files access?
To browse, move, copy, rename and delete files in any folder, Applore needs Android's All files access. A file picker would make you grant each folder separately, and duplicate search has to compare files across all of your storage. Applore uses this access for the file manager, duplicate files and the vault. It does not open other apps' private data.
Is file search free?
Browsing is free, and so is Recent Files, which shows files by when they arrived. The File Finder search, which filters by name, type, size and date, is part of Applore Pro. In Applore Free the screen opens so you can see the options, and the search button asks you to upgrade. Compare Free and Pro.
Can Applore open zip files?
Yes. Applore can extract zip files into a folder and compress files into a new zip. You can also share several files from another app and choose Compress and Share to send them as one zip. Both work in Applore Free and Applore Pro.
Does Applore upload my files?
No. The file manager reads and changes files on your phone, and nothing is uploaded to Applore. Files leave the phone only when you choose to, for example when you share a file with another app or turn on backup to your own Google Drive in a feature that offers it. Data and privacy.
