Applore vs Files by Google: what each does

Where Applore is different

• An app manager in the same app. You can uninstall several apps in one go, see how much space you will get back, and back up app files (APK) to your phone or your own Google Drive.
• Contacts tools. Applore finds duplicate contacts by name, number or email and merges them (Free: 5 merges per day, Pro: unlimited). It also backs up contacts as vCard files to your phone or your own Google Drive.
• App Lock. Lock chosen apps with a PIN, pattern or fingerprint. App Lock is free.
• Free safety tools with no ads. Needs your review checks installed apps against a reviewed list of known stalkerware and flags apps that need your review. Safety Check walks you through settings someone could change. Both run on your phone.
• Exact duplicates across all folders. The duplicate file finder compares file contents, so it finds exact copies wherever they are stored. Free finds one group per day; Pro is unlimited. Deleting a copy cannot be undone, so back up first.

Where Files by Google is different

• Clean-up suggestions. Google states that Files by Google gives “personalised space clean-up suggestions” for unused apps, large or duplicate files and low-resolution videos. [1] Applore does not clean files for you; its Free up space button opens Android’s own storage settings.
• Offline sharing. Google states that you can “transfer files directly to people nearby without data”. [1] Applore has no nearby-sharing feature of its own.
• Safe folder included. Files by Google has a Safe folder that you lock with a PIN or pattern. [2] Applore’s private vault, Vault Gallery, is part of Pro.
• Backup to more than one cloud. Google states that you can back files up “to Google Drive or to any other cloud storage app”. [1] Applore backs up to your own Google Drive.
• Nothing shared with other companies. Its Data safety section says the app “doesn’t share user data with other companies or organizations”. [3] Applore Free shows ads, and its Data safety section lists shared data (see below).

Privacy and permissions

Both summaries below are quoted from each app’s Google Play Data safety section, checked on 15 September 2026.

Files by Google [3]

• Shared: the developer says the app does not share user data with other companies or organisations.
• Collected: app interactions, in-app search history and other user-generated content; crash logs and diagnostics; email address and user IDs; device or other IDs.
• Security: data is encrypted in transit. The section says the developer does not provide a way to request that data be deleted.

Applore [4]

• Shared: device or other IDs, for app functionality and analytics.
• Collected: app interactions, for app functionality.
• Security: data is encrypted in transit, and you can request that data be deleted.
